Mamaroneck Looks to Make Carmel Second Win

CARMEL, N.Y. -- After two disappointing losses to open the season, Mamaroneck cruised to its first win last week, 21-0, over Fox Lane.The Tigers will be aiming for their second consecutive victory when they travel to winless Carmel, Saturday, 7 p.m.Quarterback Parker Thelander had a big game against Fox Lane. The senior threw for a touchdown to Will Parkinson and dove in from the one-yard line. He finished with 116 yards passing. Brett Poniros carried for a game-high 156 yards against the Foxes.

Mamaroneck’s defense kept the Foxes contained, limiting Fox Lane to minus 17 yards rushing. Fox Lane’s deepest penetration was the Mamaroneck 20-yard line. Mamaroneck constantly pressured and harassed Fox Lane quarterback T.J. Hallock.Carmel was blanked by New Rochelle last week. The Rams 0-3 start is very uncharacteristic. Carmel is annually one of the better teams in Class AA.
