MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- Jessica Gardiner capped her brilliant Mamaroneck career by leading the Tigers to a fourth consecutive Section 1 Class A title and third straight state-finalist appearance. The four-year varsity standout was rewarded when Gardiner was selected to the 2011 National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-Region team for New York. Gardiner, who will attend Colgate and play field hockey next year, was Mamaronecks center-midfielder and orchestrator on offense. Gardiner was also an excellent defensive midfielder. She also became the first Mamaroneck field hockey player to play her entire career on varsity, win four sectional titles and play in three state-championship games.
Gardiner was one of 13 players from New York chosen, including Lakeland's trio of Shannon Scavelli, Emma Bozek and Gianna Bensaia.
