Mezansky and McMullin Lead Mamaroneck to Victory

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Matt Mezansky and Gerry McMullin led the Mamaroneck boys basketball team to an overtime win at New Rochelle on Monday.

Mezansky led the Tigers (10-6) with 20 points in the 58-55 victory. McMullin filled up the stat sheet with 14 points, seven steals, five rebounds and five assists.

Mamaroneck coach Tyrone Carver Jr. said the win was crucial as the Tigers gear up for the postseason.

“We want to be playing our best basketball as we get closer to the playoffs,” Carver said. “We feel as if we’re doing that right now.

Carver also commented on the quality of the opponent on Monday.

“It’s a huge win for our program being able to beat a team of New Ro’s caliber,” Carver said. “We have a great team and we compete with the best of them in (Class) AA.”

Mamaroneck will host White Plains on Wednesday on the Tigers’ Senior Night and will play its final game of the season at Scarsdale on Friday.
