White Plains Ski Shop Sets Up Booths At Swim Meet

MAMARONECK, N.Y. – The White Plains-based Pedigree Ski Shop set up booths Wednesday at the Westchester County Swim Conference Championships at Orienta Beach Club in Mamaroneck.

The booths near the pool let swimmers, coaches, relatives and friends browse swimwear, bags and other items on the third day of the championships.

Pedigree Ski Shop owner Kristine Edwards said the shop has been outfitting the swim teams with uniforms for three years and has run stands with discounted merchandise at the championship meets for as many years.

Though both swimmers and their families shop at the booths, Edwards said one group makes up the bulk of the clientele.

“A lot of parents, because … with the beach cover-ups and beach bags, we have a lot of moms,” Edwards said.

Pedigree Ski Shop is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and will be at the final day of the conference championships on Thursday at Westchester Country Club.

Tom Furest, president of Pedigree Ski Shop, said the company has evolved in the three years since it expanded to include swimwear.

“It’s grown a lot for us,” Furest said. “I’m not sure as far as how many more swimmers they have, but our business has grown a lot. We have a lot more of the clubs and definitely grown quite a bit.”

Furest also said he has noticed more people coming up to the booths to shop during the championships.

Pedigree Ski Shop also has locations in Bedford Hills and Stamford, Conn.
