White Plains Surges Past Mamaroneck on the Mat

MAMARONECK, N.Y. – Mamaroneck roared back from a quick deficit to even the score, only to have White Plains answer back.

White Plains ran off three consecutive wins in the 126, 132 and 138 pound weight classes to break a tie and go on to a 37-27 victory over Mamaroneck in a high school wrestling match.

Mamaroneck trailed 15-0 after three matches, before the Tigers received pins from Joe Angiletta (106 pounds) and Steven Fabiano (113). Troy Whittemore (120) tied the score at 15-15 with decision, but White Plains won the next three matches to take a 31-15 lead.

Dion Duran (170) had a pin and Ben Miller (152) and Luka Pavicic (145) also won their respective matches for Mamaroneck, which forfeited the 195 and 220 pound weight classes, resulting in 12 points for White Plains.White Plains 37, Mamaroneck 27
