Why aren't they handing out goose condoms, or is the church fighting that? Isn't shaking and oiling the eggs like abortion? Is this Roe vs. Goose all over again? View Comment
This is probably a mistake, I understand that it is not necessary for this to be one way during off school times, but someone is bound to make a mistake during school hours and make the turn on to Gertrude and bowl over some kids.
If they really wanted to solve the problem they would work on the timing of the light from Gertrude onto Mamaroneck Ave. It is 6.5 seconds during pickup time creating huge delays. Residents would complain less if they could easily escape this short light and if officers would enforce the no double parking on Gertrude the impedes traffic.

There is so much poor reporting being done in the Hyperlocals on Police activity, this report may be accurate but the writing is very poor and leads one to believe there is something wrong with the report.
1. "Three men were charged with summonses for possession of open containers and issued summonses...", they are not charged with summonses, they are issued summonses for a violation.
2. They "were without bail", what does this mean? I think you were either trying to say they were released on bail or were released on an appearance ticket without bail being posted.
3. If the report is accurate that a 20 year old was found with an open container, this would imply that the police are not doing their job to arrest/cite for underage drinking. That would be a story unto itself.
I don't know if this is an attempt to get rush out a "Scoop" or poor writing, but police incidents should be taken seriously and fact checked before publication. View Comment
When is the VOM going to wake up to this issue? Another strike on Mamaroneck Ave Metro-North overpass last week.
How much would it take to remove the banners and put a yellow horizontal warning/height sign on the overpass like every other low bridge warning sign in the state? Why not put warning signs before the bridge on each side? Why also are the right hand lanes at the underpass marked with right hand only arrows but the overhead sign says go straight or right (on both sides)?
While I'm at it, why put up signs that say "wait for green light" when the rest of the state uses "No Turn On Red"? How about providing some 12 hour parking spaces when you take all the spaces out of commission at the train station for non-commuters that want to use the train?
Who is responsible for traffic/parking related issues in the Village? We seem to love to pull over U-Turn'ers on the Ave, but don't care to put up proper signage to avoid accidents that will prevent injury and property loss. I've e-mailed the village and it seems to fall on deaf ears. View Comment
Although probably not popular, they need more signage. The height sign although conspicuous is not large, it is black on white letters vs. black on yellow for most warning signs.
The village also insists on using this space for banners such as the fireman's parade which can be distracting, causing a driver to miss the less conspicuous height warning.
One would think that an accident a month for the past 2 years and 2 a month in 2012 would prompt some kind of action. The comment from the village seems to be apathetic. Increasing clearance my be impracticable at this point but, improving signage is a simple and inexpensive solution.
In addition the signage for this area is very confusing and even when I have asked local PD what to do there is a disagreement. The right hand lane traveling into the Village has a sign straight/right, yet painted on the road is right turn only.
I Suggest the Daily follow up on this.
