Steadier rain will return to the area as the workweek winds to a close with the dreary weather expected to continue through Mother's Day on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

The region will see steadier rain during the day and night on Friday. The steady rain is expected to start after noontime.

Temperatures will rise slightly to a high of 58 during the day and drop to 50 at night.

Unfortunately, earlier optimistic forecasts of a nicer Saturday have fallen through.

There will be more showers during the first part of the weekend, but temperatures will rise into the mid-60s.

The first part of Sunday will also be wet, but clouds will slowly clear out by the afternoon as temperatures remain around 64.

The sun returns to the skies on Monday -- just in time for the workweek, forecasters said.

By Tuesday, it should feel more springlike as temperatures soar to nearly 70.
