The popular neighborhood restaurant, which as early as last June had tweaked and upgraded its menu, officially ended its run on Jan. 1 with a message on its answering machine thanking customers for their support.

The restaurant, in business since 2011, had been a family affair with Matt as chef, his brother Joe as manager and their mom, Cathy as hostess.

Matt took sole control of the business in 2016 and eventually changed the menu from comfort foods to small bites and more upscale dishes.

"It was a difficult decision for us but it was the right time to move on," said Matt.

"We wish the new owners the best of luck and hope the community will continue to support them and all the local businesses in Dobbs Ferry."

He went on to stress how grateful he and his family were to have had such a successful and rewarding experience.

"We thank our loyal staff for their dedication and our customers for their patronage."

Gift certificates purchased six months prior to Jan. 1, 2018 will be refunded. If guests would like a refund, they need to email Trueamerican@cedarstreetgrillny.com after Feb. 1.
