The small bookshop doesn't have the capacity to hold the hundreds that the event attracted all at once, so eager fans young and old waited their turn to meet Andrews and her daughter, Emma Walton Hamilton.

"It's just nice to see a wholesome celebrity for them to look up to," said Maria Barton, who frequently takes her kids to The Voracious Reader.

"We're all here tonight because we're ready to see Julie Andrews," said Lauren Barton, 7. "We have all three books that are out so far."

The famous mother-daughter duo was there to sign the "The Very Fairy Princess Follows Her Heart," the fourth book in their New York Times best-selling picture book series.

Maggie McTigue, 10, was bundled up but patient. "I love Julie Andrews and I love seeing all her movies. I'm really excited to see her."

Maggie said her favorite movie with Andrews is "The Princess Diaries."

"We're going to go home and get nice and cozy and read the book tonight at bedtime," said Maggie's mother, Alice McTigue. "We're thrilled that she's here in Larchmont. What a a great event."

Despite the winter weather, no one complained about the wait to see Andrews. To warm things up, bookstore staff in glittery pink fair wings passed out hot chocolate and large frosted cookies shaped like teapots and hearts.

"We're very excited but not surprised because everyone loves Julie Andrews," owner Francine Lucidon said about the large crowd. "These numbers don't even represent how many people we had to turn away. We sold out tickets in less than 24 hours."

Only 200 books were signed at the event, but those interested in a pre-signed copy can call or stop by The Voracious Reader. Copies are limited.
