The result is Energie Barre, which opened in October 2013, renting space at A Dance Studio in Larchmont.

Owners Wendy Kaufman, a Larchmont resident, and Susan Berman, who lives in Edgemont, said their goal was to provide barre classes with the teachers they had grown to know and love.

The two pride themselves on offering individualized attention in a group setting.

"Each teacher brings her unique interpretation of the barre method to class," said Kaufman, "Which means no  two classes are exactly alike and our clients are never bored with their workout."

Teachers, added Berman, spend extra time introducing the method to new clients and are experts in modifying exercises for clients with any type of injury.

"Our core strengthening classes are the perfect compliment to running and tennis," she said. "Our workouts help strengthen, tone and lengthen muscles while increasing flexibility."

Both women say the business is a labor of love. Said Kaufman: "Clients feel strengthened in body and spirit when they work out with us."

Energie Barre Studio is at 2094 Boston Post Rd., 914- 441-4394, energiebarre.blogspot.com/.
