"It just made sense to open a family business in our hometown," said Matt, who serves as executive chef of Dobbs Ferry-based Cedar Street Grill. "My brother and I were both working at restaurants at the time and we both thought we were ready to open our own.
Turns out they were right. The bustling neighborhood eatery turns four in July and Matt, who lives in Hastings and Joe and Cathy, who both live in Dobbs, seem to know pretty much everyone who walks in.
As for working together, Matt said it's great because the three can be honest with each other. "Going into business with family wasn’t something I planned, it just made sense for all of us at the time," he said.
"Working together definitely has its pros and cons but at the end of the day, its definitely a treat to work with your family."
The two men will be working Mother's Day but Matt said they plan on giving Mom some time off.
