The book signing is in anticipation of the Off-Broadway hit, "Angelina Ballerina The Musical," which is coming to the Emelin Theatre in Mamaroneck on Feb. 16 and 17.
Attendees of the book event at both locations will have a chance to win tickets to the musical stage show, as well as enjoy a short performance by ballerinas from local dance studio Studio B Dance Center. Studio B, which is in Eastchester, is an official Angelina Ballerina Dance Academy studio, with beginner ballet classes based on the Angelina Ballerina books.
"The book signing is a perfect collaboration between a local performing arts center, bookstore, dance studio and public library," said Ashley Prymas at the Emelin Theatre. "Young girls will delight in seeing real ballerinas; parents can meet the author behind the mouse; and the whole family can enjoy a live Angelina musical at the Emelin."
The Angelina storybooks, illustrated by Helen Craig, relate to childhood themes such as friendship, jealousy, loyalty and dedication. The 24 books have inspired an animated series as well as more than 30 Home Entertainment titles.
In "Angelina Ballerina The Musical," Angelina and her friends will perform all types of dance, including hip-hop, modern dance, the Irish jig and, of course, ballet. It's a family-friendly show for all ages.
