MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- The Larchmont and Mamaroneck Center for Continuing Education will host a class on making homes more energy-efficient beginning Monday, Oct. 20.
Classes will also be held at Mamaroneck High School on Oct. 27 and Nov. 3 from 7-9 p.m.
Homeowners will learn how to make their homes environmentally responsible and energy-efficient while saving money. The class covers an overview of green construction, renovation, remodeling, and energy retrofitting, including what every owner should know when hiring a professional contractor.
The classes will also discuss the simpler methods of greening your home, including financial incentives, as well as bigger-ticket methods, including solar and geothermal.
The course will be facilitated by Michael Murphy from Murphy Brothers Contracting. Guest speakers for the three sessions will include architect Christina Griffin, Judy Martin from Green Home Consulting, Chris Puleo from Envirocare, Adam Sollner from Dow Powerhouse Solar Shingles and Lois Arena from Steven Winter Associates.
