LARCHMONT, N.Y. -- The annual Larchmont-Mamaroneck Girl Scout Holiday Fair will take place from noon-4 p.m. Sunday at the Girl Scout House, 90 Harmon Ave., Larchmont.
There will jewelry, knitted accessories, hostess gifts, holiday decorations, baked goods and more.
Admission is free, and the event is open to the public.
The Larchmont Girl Scout House used to be the Larchmont Garden Train Station. Until the Great Depression, commuters dashed through the tunnel at the little brick railroad station to catch the “Bump and Wobble,” or the Boston-Westchester commuter train, as it was more formally known.
Today, the tunnel still belongs to the railroad but is sealed off and used by Girl Scouts as a storage room. Since their purchase of this property in about 1938, Girl Scouts have painted, cleaned and kept this house cheerful and useful.
