The foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting families with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

Each year, MAC Angels honors an individual who shows leadership, strength, motivation and determination in supporting families with ALS.

Curtin began his journey with ALS in 2004, when childhood friend Claire Gormley Collier was diagnosed with the terminal disease. Curtin immediately reached out to Gormley Collier and her family to provide as much support as possible. During her battle with ALS, Curtin served as one of Gormley Collier’s caregivers and learned first hand what living with ALS was like..
