With the extreme weather, an ambulance could not reach the home where the mother was in labor, so Yonkers firefighters from Engine 307 stepped in and delivered the little one safely around 6:22 p.m. Thursday, according to Deputy Chief Daniel P. Flynn.

The crew, including Capt. Anthony Porco, and firefighters Brian Dunn, Brian Mulqueen, and Jonavy Arias, were dispatched to the Southeast Yonkers home around 4:47 p.m.

After two hours of helping the mom, the crew delivered the baby boy, cut the umbilical cord, and provided care to the baby and mother who are both doing well, Flynn said.

The ambulance arrived about five minutes after the delivery.
