There aren't many places in Putnam or Westchester where women can pick out an elegant, one-of-a-kind, designer dress, get their hair and makeup done, and get styled by a professional before heading out to an event.
Enter Laura's Boutique, which opened in Carmel in 2013.
Laura's is run by designer Laura Rudovic, a Mahopac resident who graduated from Mamaroneck High School and Pace University. Rudovic creates her own designs and has participated in numerous fashion shows in New York City, Atlantic City and around the tri-state area.
Rudovic's own designs are usually the quickest to disappear from her store's racks, but she's always creating more and has plenty of designs - her own and from other designers - to choose from.
"Our specialty is one-of-a-kind dresses for special occasions," Rudovic told Daily Voice during a recent visit. "We have bridesmaids dresses, wedding gowns, mother of the bride dresses, cocktail dresses, and much more."
Laura's also specializes in makeovers - Rudovic said she has someone come in to do hair, and she handles makeup for those who want to be pampered and look their best.
"People know me from fashion shows, and I think this is kind of a unique place," Rudovic said. "We have girls come from Long Island, Brooklyn, the Bronx... they travel to get here because we do everything. There's nowhere else in Putnam or Westchester like it. They can get ready here - with hair and makeup, and then be styled by me, then go right to their event."
Response to the store's services has been positive. "The girls say everyone loves their look," Rudovic said. "They get tons of compliments, and everyone always comes back. I think people love our professionalism, and we get a lot of referrals."
Laura's Boutique is located at 229 Route 52 in Carmel.
