The historic theater is still for sale and a recent Kickstarter campaign was launched, but subsequently cancelled, by the Pelham Picture House, as reported by The Daily Voice. Now, a new Larchmont-based group is forming to determine just how much money could be raised to purchase the theater.
According to the broker for the building, there are two bids ranging from $1.2 to $1.4 million, at least one of the bids proposes to convert the building into offices. Efforts to preserve the theater would necessitate at least $1.2 million pledged before June 30, a deadline communicated by the broker. The group intends to structure the purchase through a 501(c)(3) organization.
