To the editor:
The effort to reinvigorate Mamaroneck's industrial area seeks long-term economic and environmental longevity, raising the bar for the Sound Shore as well as Westchester County.
The consultant, rePLACE Urban Studio, continues to eagerly work in conjunction with the Industrial Area Committee, village officials and residents alike to embark upon a philosophical approach to a final proposal based upon statistics, economic variables, social/cultural and environmental factors.
RePlace is acutely aware of the need to ascertain the needs and challenges of the community and maintains a clear understanding of the importance of arriving at an innovative vision, yet mindful of the character (and historical context) of the village of Mamaroneck.
Over the last eight months numerous meetings have been held with members of the IAC and village officials, and equally important, outreach has been made through meetings and interactive workshops with property owners in the industrial area and residents of Washingtonville.
The IAC intends to meet with the various chairs and members of village land-use boards and commissions, with a final presentation before the entire village in October to review the final proposals.
This process promises to be a unique opportunity to gain additional insight and input from the community and for the endeavor that IAC has embarked upon with the assistance of rePLACE Urban Studio.
