The father of five wakes up at 4 a.m. every morning to paint a handful of pop art-style pieces in the basement of his Larchmont home. This is all before he leaves for his nine-to-five job as the creative director for Este Lauder Corp in Manhattan.

He has posted thousands of his paintings on Instagram, where more than 32,000 people follow him. Many of his posts have elicited offers to buy his work in the comments section. They are available for purchase on the Trendable app, ranging in price from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars.

Beyond Instagram, the fashion world has taken notice of his unique stylings, leading to collaborations with J.Crew, Warby Parker found Neil Blumenthal and British fashion designer Giles Deacon, to name a few.

Robertson said he is shocked by the large following he has amassed, especially among high-end designers, actors and musicians. He said he was shocked “When Pharrell Williams 'regrammed' me, or when Lupita (Nyong'o) gave my painting of her a shout out before she won the Oscar. Those were great.”

Before launching an Instagram account at the behest of his wife, Robertson shared his paintings with friends and co-workers.

“My wife told me to lose the blackberry and get with the program,” he said. “Behind every great man is a wife making fun of him.”

The witty Toronto native has lived in Larchmont for seven years and said he loves Chatsworth Elementary School, where his children attend school, and Lusardi's.

“I love finding a parking space anywhere and I love the Larchmont cops that found my dog who took off,” he said.

Comparisons to Andy Warhol have been forthcoming since both transitioned from illustrator to artist. Robertson said of the comparison, "I should wear a wig."
