Sarah Neuman Center Jewish Home Lifecare is at 845 Palmer Ave., Mamaroneck. The program followed by a cocktail reception honoring At Home on the Sound The keynote speaker for the event will be Dr. Peter Rabins of the Johns Hopkins School Of Medicine in Baltimore, Md.
An expert in helping patients and families cope with dementia and depression in the elderly, Rabins has been on the faculty of Johns Hopkins since 1978 and is now professor of psychiatry.
He was founding director of the Johns Hopkins Division of Geriatric Psychiatry and Neuropsychiatry. He is the author of "The 36-Hour Day," "Practical Dementia Care," "The Why of Things" and "Getting Old Without Getting Anxious." "The 36-Hour Day" is described as the manual to help people caring for someone with Alzheimer’s. "The 36-Hour Day" will be available for purchase at the event.
Other expert panelists include Elaine Weingarten, executive director, At Home on the Sound; Patricia Gaston, care consultant, Alzheimer’s Association Hudson Valley, Rockland, Westchester, NY Chapter; Susan Holodak, director of day center programs, Jewish Home Lifecare and Roni Lang, social Wowrker, Center for Healthy Aging, Greenwich Hospital.
There is no cost to attend this event.
The Annual Stein Lecture on Alzheimer’s Disease is sponsored by the Marion Stein Endowment Fund that provides specialized training, services and programs for Sarah Neuman Center residents with Alzheimer’s.
