ABC 7 reports firefighters and emergency personnel are currently responding while Con Edison handles the electricity. More than 500 households are currently without power as a result.

The incident occurred on Mamaroneck Avenue and Winfield Avenue around 1 a.m.

The 13,000 volt wires heated up the ground enough to spark off the gas line and cause the fire, which has completely destroyed two cars and damaged a third.

The cause of the fire is still under further investigation.
