Police: Boy Assaulted at Hommocks Skate Night

MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- A local student was jumped by a group of kids and assaulted while leaving the Friday skate night at the Hommocks Ice Rink last week, said Lt. Robert Koziak of the Town of Mamaroneck Police Department.

The group, which fled the scene before police arrived, reportedly pushed the boy, 14, to the ground and began kicking and punching him at approximately 9:30 p.m. The ice rink remains open to the public on Friday nights until 9:15 p.m., later than the usual 5:15 p.m. closing time.

The boy suffered minor swelling and pain to the left side of his face, but refused to be taken to the hospital. Instead, his parents were contacted to pick him up.

Town police don't know how many kids were in the group that assaulted the boy and no one has been caught.
