Police in Bedford investigated a recent luring incident involving an elementary school student and a man in a sedan offering some candy.

Investigators from the Bedford Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of Babbitt Road and Buxton Road, when a “young male operating a tan or silver sedan called out to the (elementary school) student something to the effect of ‘Hey come in my car, I got some candy,’ according to police, before turning on Buxton Road and driving off.

Police said that the student continued home, informed his mother, who called police to investigate. Detectives were sent to canvas the area, but could not find the sedan or driver.

According to police, the following morning, detectives “identified the involved vehicle and its occupants. It was determined the vehicle was operated by a juvenile male who had a juvenile male passenger. It was further determined that there was no criminality in this particular matter. The Bedford Central School District is aware of all aspects of this event.

“As always, students and parents are urged to contact the police if and when suspicious incidents are observed.”
