According to the TJ Maxx loss-prevention officer, Candace M. Alberti, 33, kicked him, slapped the glasses off his face and bit his left thumb outside the store when he took hold of the purse into which he had seen her place unpaid merchandise, the Rutland Herald said.

The $21.50 in underwear Alberti stole was retrieved when the two women shopping with Alberti intervened to prevent her from hitting the loss-prevention officer again and took the merchandise out of her bag. If convicted, Alberti faces a maximum of one and half years in prison and $1,500 in fines, the Rutland Herald said.
