Bramson received 97,950.5 votes, to Jenkins' 80,249 at the committee's convention at the Westchester County Center.
"We may have arrived here on different teams, but now strong, united and determined, we go forward as one team," Bramson said in his "three-minute version" of his acceptance speech.
The New Rochelle Mayor said he had prepared 15-minute and three-minute versions of his speech, and put the decision of which to use to the crowd of delegates, who remained at the county center past midnight for the final tally. The crowd unanimously asked for the shorter of the two after waiting for a result since 7 p.m., when the convention was scheduled to start.
District Attorney Janet DiFiore will run for a third term after receiving the nomination for the office of chief prosecutor Wednesday. County Clerk Tim Idoni was uncontested in his bid for re-election.
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- The field of Democratic candidates seeking to run for county executive was narrowing late Wednesday as the party faithful met for their convention in the Westchester County Center.
To get the nomination on the initial ballot, a candidate would have to get more than 50 percent of the votes. None of the three candidates reached that threshold, so it went to a second ballot after 11 p.m.
For this ballot, the top two vote-getters from the first ballot moved on and the lowest was dropped off. Moving on were Westchester County Board of Legislators Chariman Ken Jenkins (D - Yonkers), who got 77,224 votes or 42.49 percent, and New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson, who got 90,019.5 votes or 49.53 percent.
Bill Ryan was dropped from the ballot after getting 14,489 votes, or 7.97 percent.
It was unclear whether Ryan's supporters would go to Jenkins or Bramson.
