Two Mamaroneck Art Shows Feature High School Works

MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- Mamaroneck High School AP Studio Art students will have their artwork on display at two upcoming shows.

The Young Arts on the Rise exhibit kicks off with a reception/awards ceremony from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4 at the Mamaroneck Artists Guild (126 Larchmont Ave.). The exhibit features work by Mamaroneck High School, New Rochelle and French American School students. The exhibit officially opened this week and will run through Saturday, Feb. 7. 

A second art show, AP Concentration Show, kicks off with an opening reception from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 11. The show is curated, installed and catered entirely by about 35 Mamaroneck High School students in the AP Studio Art program, working in photography, clay and drawing and painting.

It features the students' progress so far on the 12-piece series deeply exploring a single theme that they will submit to the College Board in May.
