Larchmont's Eid Seeded First in Three Swim Finals

SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- Nathalie Eid was a perfect 3 for 3 at the Westchester County Swim Conference 12- and 14-and-under qualifier Monday at Scarsdale Municipal Pool.

The 12-year-old Larchmont Yacht Club swimmer placed first in the girls’ 12-and-under 50-yard butterfly, freestyle and backstroke. In each race, she lowered her seed time.

The top 16 swimmers and/or relay teams qualified for the Westchester County Swim Conference Championships at Westchester Country Club Thursday beginning at 11 a.m. Eid will be seeded first in each of her three races. Eid covered the freestyle in 27.21, clocked in at 29.37 in the butterfly and went 31 seconds in the breaststroke.

Eid was quite happy with her three races, especially her backstroke.

“I remembered something that my coach (Dominick Galimi) told me in practice,” said Eid, a Larchmont resident who is entering seventh grade at the French-American School in Mamaroneck. “He told me to take five butterfly kicks off the turn and that helped me catch up.”

The strong finish allowed Eid to overtake Yuha Kase of Lake Isle Country Club, who finished in 29.94 seconds. Following her strong day, Eid will now prepare for the finals. She hopes to follow the same route to titles.

“I was really pumped up before my races,” Eid said. “The competition really pumped me up.”
