Mamaroneck Girls' Relay Team Breaks School Record

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Mamaroneck High School's 3,200-meter relay team of Leonie Rauls, Shari Rauls, Katie DeVore and anchor Anima Banks set the school record by winning its Division 1 4 x 800m relay in 9:11.46 at Friday's Section 1 State Qualifying Track Meet. The team advances to next week's New York State Track and Field Championships in upstate Syracuse.

The flying Tigers foursome, led by Banks, recently ran a time of 9:29 to win the Westchester County 4 x 800m championship at Byram Hills, but pushed themselves to the record mark at the highly competitive qualifying meet.

The Rauls sisters and DeVore will return next season while Banks, a top runner in her individual indoor and outdoor events, will attend Duke University in the fall. Leoni is just a sophomore and Shari Rauls and Katie DeVore are eighth-graders.
