The team donated $5,000 to Support Connection Tuesday. Support Connection, based in Yorktown, provides emotional, social, and educational support to people affected by breast and ovarian cancer.
The football team raised the funds through the sale of t-shirts and donations collected at a Friday night football game in September.
“Coach is always encouraging us to give back to the community,” said captain Brett Makar, “And whenever we have a chance to give a helping hand, help somebody outside our football family, we take the opportunity to do so. It really is special giving back.”
This is the second year the football team has raised money for Support Connection.
“The fact that you did this and we had to do nothing but say thank you is a huge thing for us," said Barbara Cervoni, Director of Services and Communication.
The Huskers advanced to this year's state championship game at the Carrier Dome.
