What's Happening Around Mamaroneck This Week

MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- Here's a look at events happening around Mamaroneck this week, including government meetings and community happenings. See our events listings for more.

Monday

Beginner Computer Classes: 10 a.m. Computer beginners will learn how to use a mouse and other basic computer skills at the Mamaroneck Library. Each class consists of two sessions during the course of a week and participants must attend both sessions. The second class will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Call 698-1250 x3 to reserve a space.

Village Board of Trustees Meeting: 7:30 p.m. The board will have a public hearing on the tentative budget for 2012-2013, and continue a public hearing on adopting a local law to override the two percent tax levy, which was adjourned at their last meeting March 12. Tuesday

Mamaroneck Lions Club Luncheon: 12:15 p.m. The Lions Club meets every Tuesday at Chef Antonio Ristorante on 551 Halstead Ave.

Village Budget Work Session: 5:30 p.m. There will be a budget work session in the Village Courtroom. Another will be at the same time and place Thursday.

Village Budget Committee Meeting: 7 p.m. This meeting will be following the budget work session.

Village Flood Mitigation Advisory Committee Meeting: 7:30 p.m. This meeting will be in the Regatta, 123 Mamaroneck Ave.

Wednesday

Spring with Homemade Flowers: 3 p.m. The Mamaroneck Library will host a program making curly birds, tissue flowers and origami butterflies from 3-5 p.m.

Village Recreation and Parks Commission Meeting: 7 p.m. This meeting will be at the Harbor Island Pavilion.

Village Planning Board Meeting: 7 p.m. This meeting will be in the Village Courtroom.

Town Zoning Board of Appeals Meeting: 7:45 p.m. Following a special meeting at 6:15 p.m., this board's regular meeting will be in the Town Center, 740 W. Boston Post Road. The residence on 38 Lester Place is zoned for three families, where five exist. Similarly, 30 Lester Place is zoned for four families, where five exist. The landlord for both, Saul Rueda, is seeking a variance to legalize those apartments. Both applications were last adjourned at the Feb. 29 meeting.

Town Traffic Committee Meeting: 8 p.m. This meeting will be in the Town Center.

Town Coastal Zone Management Commission Meeting: 8 p.m. This meeting will be in Conference Room C.
